The Freytag Cancer Center at AdventHealth Palm Coast has officially opened, marking a milestone in the community’s fight against cancer. This 30,000-square-foot, two-story facility was made possible by a $30 million investment and generous donations from local supporters, including Peter and Sue Freytag, after whom the plaza is named. Construction began in the fall of 2023 and was completed in the spring of 2024.

It offers advanced treatments such as precision medicine, which provides tailored therapies for each patient; immunotherapy, which uses the body’s immune system to fight cancer; and the TrueBeam™ visual radiation system, which delivers precise radiation therapy and aids in cancer detection and diagnosis. Alongside cancer care, the plaza offers adult rehabilitation services, such as outpatient physical, occupational and speech-language therapy for orthopedic, hand, neurological and lymphedema conditions. With multiple physician offices on-site, the facility allows for easy access to coordinated care.

The center also includes the relocated Judith C. Macko Cancer Resource Center, which provides free resources such as wigs for those experiencing hair loss due to treatment, as well as emotional and psychological support to patients and their families throughout their journey. With a focus on advanced medical care and emotional well-being, this new center ensures patients receive compassionate, excellent treatment close to home.

Why We Did It

AdventHealth created the Freytag Cancer Center to address the need for accessible, high-quality cancer care in Flagler County. As the community grew, local cancer care options became limited, making it harder for residents to access the treatments they needed. AdventHealth saw an opportunity to provide top-quality care within the community, offering advanced technology, personalized treatments, and support services. This initiative strengthens the community’s health infrastructure and reduces the burden of travel on patients by allowing them to remain near their loved ones and support systems during treatment and recovery.

Community Voice

“My father always said charity begins at home. By that, he meant the first thing you have to do is take care of your family. Once your family is taken care of, then you should take care of your community.”
