Kettering Health partnered with the Cincinnati Bengals, the American Heart Association, and Cintas to host the second annual "Save the Dey" event at Paycor Stadium. The event provided free Hands-Only CPR and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training to help the community learn how to respond to cardiac arrest emergencies. Over 650 people signed up for the event, featuring two CPR training sessions. The first 500 people to register for each session received a free Cincy Hat, while all attendees had the opportunity to meet Bengals Center Ted Karras.
Why We Did It
This initiative aims to address the statistic that over 350,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur in the U.S. each year, with nearly 75% happening at home. Immediate CPR can double or triple a victim’s chance of survival, highlighting the need for bystander CPR and AED training. By educating the community, the program reinforced the importance of these life-saving skills and empowered individuals to respond effectively in emergencies.
