The White Memorial community centers connect residents to help with insurance, housing, food and wellness programs so their communities can better manage the demands of daily life. Each year, the White Memorial Community Resource Center engages 1,100 workshop participants and serves 500 active members, helping residents enroll in insurance and connecting them to support for rent, food, immigration needs, utilities, employment, in-home care, and wellness programs. It also offers 75 workshops per month on topics like mental health, diabetes management, and Alzheimer’s prevention. Modeled with a similar approach, the Montebello Community Well-Being Center supports its community by distributing food, offering wellness classes for older adults, providing health education and running a Healthcare Workforce Development program for youth pursuing careers in healthcare.

Why We Did It
These community centers offer a variety of services to improve health outcomes, on a holistic and preventative level, for the communities they serve. Adventist Health created its community centers to address gaps in health access and economic stability identified in the 2025 Community Health Needs Assessment. The assessment showed 15% of White Memorial – Montebello residents are underinsured, which is nearly twice the national rate of 8%. Additionally, 7% of residents are unemployed, compared to the U.S. average of 5%. These challenges limit access to quality care and contribute to poorer health outcomes. The community centers aim to reduce these barriers by offering support that can help strengthen the community’s overall well-being.
