AdventHealth Central Florida awarded nearly $1 million in Community Health Improvement Grants in 2024 to enhance mental health services in three Central Florida counties. The initiative partnered with local nonprofits to expand mental health resources, including Above and Beyond, Gifted Ones, MAN UP Mentoring, and the Hispanic Federation-Florida Regional Division. The programs provide professional development for mental health workers, culturally sensitive wellness education, therapy services in Title I schools, and coordinated care for complex mental health needs, improving accessibility and reducing stigma in the community.

Why we did it

The 2022 Community Health Needs Assessment and the 2023-2025 Community Health Plan found mental health challenges significantly impact Central Florida residents, with many facing barriers to accessing care. From cultural and language barriers to limited provider availability, AdventHealth Central Florida’s strategic grant funding addresses critical gaps in mental health services, empowering community members to access the support they need.
