Since becoming the Official Healthcare Champion for Volusia County Schools in 2018, AdventHealth has continued to invest in the health and well-being of local students. Most recently, AdventHealth partnered with Volusia County Schools to renovate the training rooms at two high schools from floor to ceiling, donating nearly $20,000 worth of new equipment and supplies, including ice machines, cabinets, flooring and fresh paint. These renovations highlight AdventHealth’s ongoing investment in the well-being of local students, their future and their health. These renovations build on AdventHealth’s support of the district, which includes donating 30 automated external defibrillators (AEDs), streamlining injury reporting with electronic medical records, contributing more than $12,000 in medical supplies, and improving protocols for concussions and exertional heat stroke. Now, with updated training facilities, the schools are better positioned to support the physical health of their athletes, ensuring they have the care they need to succeed both on and off the field.

Why We Did It

In addition to ensuring trainers have the proper tools and space they need to deliver comprehensive care for athletic injuries and recovery, AdventHealth also supports the professionals who provide that care. Athletic trainers are highly qualified health care professionals with a master’s-level education and state licensure, and AdventHealth helps cover the cost of their professional memberships, certification fees and state licenses. These renovations highlight AdventHealth’s investment in the well-being of local students and the health professionals who support them. Together, these efforts help strengthen the care available to student-athletes across Volusia County Schools.
