AdventHealth-Central Texas hosted the CardioCare Expo in February 2024 at the Killeen hospital’s conference room to support Heart Health Month. The event provided free heart health screenings, including blood pressure checks, cholesterol tests, and EKG readings, to promote awareness and prevention of cardiovascular disease. Medical professionals engaged with attendees, offering consultations on comprehensive cardiac services and sharing important health information.

Why we did it

Heart disease is the leading cause of death worldwide, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). The CardioCare Expo aimed to address the need for early detection and prevention of heart disease in the Killeen community. By offering free screenings and education, AdventHealth-Central Texas sought to empower individuals to take charge of their heart health and reduce the incidence of cardiovascular issues.

“Community health and prevention is the first goal. The hospital taking care of you when you need us is important, but it’s also just as important to prevent having to call the hospital." said James Lameley
