AdventHealth has launched a new adolescent behavioral health program designed to support young women aged 13-18 dealing with mental health issues like depression, anxiety, PTSD and more. The 10-bed unit offers inpatient care but also focuses on helping patients after they leave, providing resources like placement assistance and educational support. Since 2024, the program has supported 350 young women. This program gives local access to female-only mental health care, which was previously unavailable nearby.

Why We Did It
AdventHealth Hendersonville created the new adolescent behavioral health program to address young women’s lack of local mental health care. Families in the area often had to travel out of state to find specialized treatment, leading to care delays. The program focuses on issues like depression, anxiety, and PTSD, which are increasingly affecting adolescents. The goal of offering a female-only unit nearby is to improve access to timely, effective care.
