In partnership with the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Adventist Health Sierra Vista and Twin Cities offer biomedical engineering college students the opportunity to shadow doctors and gain clinical experience. Launched in 2022, the Biomedical Clinical Engineering Partnership (BiCEP) brings together California Polytechnic State University (San Luis Obispo) students, faculty, physicians and hospital leaders. The BiCEP program trains 10 students per cycle and is in its final year of a five-year NIH grant.

Why We Did It
There is an ongoing need to improve patient care, and BiCEP exposes students to clinical settings so they can identify these gaps in care. Through this immersion, students observe clinical workflows and use engineering to develop technologies and processes that improve care delivery and prepare future engineers to meet clinical demands.
