Kettering Health donated approximately 558 new and gently used hospital beds and 38 stretchers to Seventh-day Adventist hospitals serving underserved communities in Argentina, Peru and Paraguay. These donations, available from Kettering Health’s routine equipment turnover, represent a long-standing global partnership to better serve patients and improve care. In the past, donations have included mammography equipment, angiography equipment, an MRI and a CT scanner.

Why We Did It

Hospitals in underserved communities often face limited resources and outdated medical equipment. In parts of South America, for example, certain hospitals are still using equipment that is over 30 years old–even though hospital beds are typically replaced every 5-10 years. For some hospitals, a lack of equipment means an inability to provide care. This rings true for a hospital in Buenos Aires, Argentina, that is now able to keep its doors open because of these donations. The effort reflects Kettering Health’s commitment to global health partnerships and its mission to improve health care access and outcomes for underserved communities.
