Adventist Health Simi Valley responded to the growing threat of fentanyl-related overdoses in the community. By collaborating with local police and community organizations, the health system enhanced public safety and strengthened the relationship between residents and law enforcement. Key initiatives included participating in National Night Out and Cops ‘N Cruisers events, where over 100 Narcan kits were distributed, and more than 40 individuals were certified in CPR. Additionally, Adventist Health joined forces with local leaders to host a fentanyl awareness community meeting, providing 117 free Narcan kits and essential training on their proper use.
Why We Did It
Adventist Health Simi Valley recognized the urgent need to address the alarming rise in fentanyl-related overdoses within the community. By actively participating in community events and providing essential resources, the health system sought to empower residents, reduce overdose-related fatalities, and improve overall community well-being. This project aligns with Adventist Health’s mission to provide holistic, compassionate care that extends beyond the hospital and into the heart of the community.
