Yesterday, President Biden and a bipartisan group of 21 senators reached a compromise to modernize the nation’s physical infrastructure. The $1.2 trillion plan includes $579 billion in new spending over eight years, focusing only on infrastructure such as roads, bridges, broadband internet and electric vehicles. No health care policies were included in this deal; the President made it clear that he won’t sign the deal unless it comes along with another “human infrastructure” bill that focuses on social safety-net programs.
