Medicaid is set to see another boom in enrollment, hitting new program milestones on both the state and federal level. North Carolina’s Medicaid expansion is set to take effect, clearing the state legislature’s Republican supermajority last week and opening up the program to a potential 600,000 more North Carolinians. Nationwide, about 500,000 children and families will see their Medicaid coverage reinstated after CMS’ summer call to action to states. States were alerted to a now-corrected systems issue that was inappropriately disenrolling eligible beneficiaries. “We will continue to work with states for as long as needed to help prevent anyone eligible for Medicaid or CHIP coverage from being disenrolled,” said HHS.
