The Lown Institute has updated its Social Responsibility rankings, which grade hospitals and health systems on multiple factors. Hospitals were graded on three domains—Equity, Outcomes, and Value—with increased weight now being given to community investments and pay equity. The Ranking index also includes new features that allow for filtering by for-profit status and private equity investments, as well as a new metric of COVID-19 burden. In the press release and kickoff events, Adventist Health Ukiah Valley was specifically honored as one of the nation’s most socially responsible hospitals of 2024. Stay tuned for a full analysis of all AHPA-member systems under the Lown Institute’s new methodology. The updated rankings join Lown’s 2024 Fair Share Spending report, which examines hospitals’ community investments.
