AdventHealth partnered with mission groups from Tennessee, Florida and Kentucky to support a 76-year-old resident in Manchester, Kentucky, through its ongoing Healthy Homes campaign. The initiative focused on improving the safety, accessibility and overall living conditions of her home following a recent fall that limited her mobility. Six volunteers completed 72 hours of work together, which included a range of home repairs and upgrades. With $1,182, they installed a wheelchair-accessible ramp, replaced gutters, refreshed the backyard and repaired landscaping. Through hands-on service, the project addressed immediate health and safety needs while helping the resident remain comfortably and securely in her home.
Why We Did It
Through its long-standing Healthy Homes campaign, AdventHealth works to address housing-related conditions that can affect health and safety for older and vulnerable residents. After a recent fall left the Manchester resident in a wheelchair, her home no longer supported her daily needs, increasing the risk of further injury and making it difficult for her to live independently. Through the Healthy Homes campaign, AdventHealth focuses on the connection between housing conditions and overall health. By improving accessibility and repairing key areas of the home, the initiative helps prevent future injuries, reduces health risks and supports aging in place. This work reflects AdventHealth’s commitment to whole-person care by addressing the environmental factors that impact health and well-being.
