House Committee Marks Up FY 2026 Appropriations Bill
The House Appropriations Committee has released the FY 2026 appropriations bill language, governing potential spending for the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education, among others. The bill allocates $164.5 billion of discretionary spending, including $108 billion for HHS — 6% ($7 billion) less than FY 2025 levels. The bill does allocate $100 million to support HHS Secretary Kennedy’s efforts to Make America Healthy Again. It contains $48 billion in funding for the National Institutes of Health and includes $515 million for rural health and increased funding for rural hospitals. It also maintains $1.85 billion in funding for primary health care and increases funding for mental health and substance-use block grants.
