HHS Drops Appeal of Web-tracking Decision
HHS is dropping its case against the American Hospital Association over online web tracking. This is a result of a federal district court’s decision which sided with hospitals that sued the HHS Office of Civil Rights (OCR). The OCR was attempting to implement a policy that prohibited sharing IP-address information obtained with tracking software on public-facing websites with unapproved third parties, believing it a violation of federal health privacy rules.
