Doctors Seek Fix to 2025 Pay Cuts in New Bipartisan Bill
This week, a bipartisan group of Representatives introduced a bill that would counteract the payment cuts in CMS’ Physician Fee Schedule. The proposed PFS rule called for a 2.8% cut to physician payments. The bill introduced this week would erase that 2.8% cut and add an additional 1.93% increase to physician pay, which is about half of the Medicare Economic. The result would be a total 4.73% increase to the current payment rates. Congressman Greg Murphy M.D. (R-NC), primary author of the bill, notes that physician practice costs are expected to rise 3.6% in 2025. Combined with the proposed cuts from CMS, physicians could face a total 6.4% cut unless Congress acts.
