The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has issued a proposed rule updating payments in outpatient facilities and Ambulatory Surgical Centers (ASCs) for calendar year 2023. The rule increases payments by 2.7%, allows more services to be provided in the outpatient setting, and sets payment policies for the newly-created Rural Emergency Hospital (REH) designation.
