CMS Proposes ACA Plans Cover More Preventative Services Without Cost-Sharing
In new proposed rules, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) proposes expanding coverage of preventative services for plans sold on the Affordable Care Act’s Health Insurance Exchanges. Included in the proposal are requirements for health insurers to include contraception in the family-planning care they cover without cost sharing or a prescription. HHS has received reports of “many plans and issuers [continuing] to impose barriers to contraceptive coverage.” The rules build on CMS’ January 22, 2024, guidance on ACA implementation for insurers.
