CMS recently released the final rule for the Radiation Oncology (RO) Model, which will start a five-year performance period for RO services on January 1, 2021. This model will make site-neutral, prospective episode-based payments for 16 different cancer types. Physician group practices, hospital outpatient departments and freestanding radiation therapy centers in randomly selected Core-Based Statistical Areas will be required to participate.
