CMS Ends Duplicate Marketplace Enrollment
On October 14th, CMS announced it has identified about 189,000 Affordable Care Act (ACA) Marketplace enrollees in 2026 who either had duplicate enrollment or were deceased. This includes enrollees who had Marketplace coverage while also being enrolled in Medicare, Medicaid or CHIP. The Agency is giving affected individuals 30 days to dispute the finding before ending their applicable Marketplace subsidy. Secretary Kennedy said, “HHS is identifying improper enrollments, stopping those payments, and making sure federal dollars support the Americans these programs were created to serve.” The Trump Administration expects the find to save $1.5 billion over the next year.
