CMS approved Texas’ plan to extend postpartum health care coverage through Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Beginning on March 1^st, the new coverage will go in effect and will raise the health care coverage for qualifying mothers from 60 days to 12 months. The state expects approximately 137,000 women will benefit from the postpartum coverage in fiscal 2025.
