CMMI Unveils New Vision for Health Innovation
The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) has unveiled its new strategy in step with the White House’s commitment to Make America Healthy Again. CMMI believes the new strategy will help improve the health of Americans through “disease prevention via evidence-based practices, empowering individuals with information to make informed decisions, and promoting choice and competition.” Right-leaning policy analysts have criticized CMMI in the past for retaining ineffective, complicated models that produce little cost savings. As part of the new strategy, the following payment models will be discontinued by December 31, 2025:
- Primary Care First Model
- Making Care Primary Model
- ESRD Treatment Choices Model
- Maryland Total Cost of Care Model
