President Joe Biden signed a new Executive Order (EO) for Safe, Secure, and Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence (AI). The EO instructs multiple agencies to produce guidelines and take other actions to advance the safe, secure, and trustworthy development and use of AI. This week, the Senate Health, Education, Labor & Pensions (HELP) Committee also held a hearing titled, “Avoiding a Cautionary Tale: Policy Considerations for Artificial Intelligence in Health Care.” The hearing examined policy consideration for AI in the health care space.
