In June 2024, UChicago Medicine AdventHealth hosted its annual Medical Mission Clinic at the Sports Hub in Glendale Heights, IL. This event brought together team members, healthcare providers, mental health advocates, educational institutions, senior care organizations and civic groups to deliver medical services and resources for the uninsured, underinsured or unemployed. Serving over 100 people, including immigrants from countries such as Mexico, the Philippines, and Ukraine, the clinic provided free medical, dental and vision exams. Volunteers also connected patients with specialty referrals and access to affordable medications for ongoing support.

Why We Did It
Through the Annual Medical Mission Clinic, UChicago Medicine AdventHealth aims to address health disparities in the communities it serves. The organization’s 2022 local Community Health Needs Assessments identified the need for comprehensive, high-quality care for uninsured and underinsured individuals in Illinois. In response, the clinic offers immediate medical, dental and vision exams and facilitates connections to ongoing care, specialty referrals and social services. By providing this kind of care free of charge, UChicago Medicine AdventHealth is advancing health equity and empowering individuals to take charge of their health.
