Yesterday, Secretary Kennedy announced that HHS will decertify Life Alliance Organ Recovery Agency following the Secretary’s investigation. Life Alliance is an Organ Procurement Organization (OPO) operated out of the University of Miami. In the press release, HHS condemns the “systemic disregard for the sanctity of life” presented by OPO inefficiencies, including “never events” like lost or stolen organs. Dr. Oz reiterated that CMS will be “enforcing rigorous standards and modernizing the system with better data, stronger oversight and innovative tools to make organ procurement safer, fairer and more effective for every American awaiting a transplant.”
