The Community Legal Partnership at Christian Service Center (CSC) is a partnership between CSC and Community Legal Services, providing legal assistance to individuals experiencing chronic homelessness in Central Florida. In collaboration with Advent Health, the project addresses unaffordable housing by providing legal support to resolve civil legal issues, such as evictions, tenant rights disputes, and Social Security disability cases. The team identifies individuals in need through case management and connects them with legal services to improve their chances of securing stable housing. In the three years of the partnership, the program managed 339 cases, and 279 individuals received legal counsel services. One hundred sixty-three individuals successfully resolved their civil legal issues, while 76 individuals either mitigated the risk of housing loss or connected with a housing case manager.

Why We Did It

The program addresses the growing challenge of unstable housing caused by civil legal issues. Many individuals experiencing homelessness face barriers to securing affordable housing due to unresolved legal matters, such as evictions, disputes, or violations of tenant rights. By tackling these issues, the project aims to reduce homelessness.
