The Kohler Relief Shower Trailer was established at Hollywood Adventist Church to address the growing hygiene needs of the unhoused population, which were worsened by the COVID-19 pandemic. In partnership with Adventist Health, World Vision, and Kohler, the project aimed to increase access to showers for individuals and families living on the streets or in vehicles in Hollywood. This effort expanded the weekly shower capacity from 60-80 people to approximately 300.
Why We Did It
The unhoused population in Hollywood faced hygiene challenges due to the closure of public facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic. Access to basic needs like showers was limited, posing a public health risk. The installation of the Kohler shower trailer addressed this gap, offering increased capacity to provide showers, helping to reduce the spread of illness, and supporting the community’s overall health.
