The “Hood Auntie” project, led by Tasha Nicole, a violence intervention professional, focuses on supporting trauma patients in San Bernardino. The initiative addresses the cycle of violence and trauma by providing mentorship to high-risk youth and former inmates, as well as emotional support for trauma victims and ex-gang members. Through these efforts, the project aims to help individuals impacted by violence, particularly gunshot and stabbing victims, recover and find pathways to healing.
Why We Did It
San Bernardino faces challenges with violent crime, ranking among the most dangerous cities in California (According to 2019 FBI Crime Data). Nicole developed the project to break this cycle by offering support to trauma victims, thereby preventing future crimes and improving their quality of life.
